HealthPathways is a valuable resource for General Practice teams across New Zealand, providing consistent guidelines for assessing and managing a broad range of conditions, including osteoporosis. With 10 regional Community HealthPathways (CHP) sites, these pathways ensure standardised care and outline criteria for accessing publicly funded health services. While CHP is primarily designed for General Practitioners, it is also helpful for other healthcare professionals.

HealthPathways provides consistent, evidence-based guidelines for managing osteoporosis, helping General Practice teams deliver standardised care.

In Canterbury, additional pathways include Hospital HealthPathways (HHP) for Resident Medical Officers and Allied Healthways (AHW) for Allied Health Clinicians. Many regional CHP sites and AHW feature an osteoporosis pathway, which is regularly reviewed and updated. A lead region osteoporosis pathway is in development, aiming to create a standardised approach across all New Zealand regions.

Healthcare professionals can utilise these pathways to ensure evidence-based, consistent care for their patients. Learn more from the HealthPathways Community website.
