In 2023, the Medical Council of New Zealand published a Telehealth Statement. The statement outlines the Council’s expectation of doctors who practise telehealth in New Zealand and overseas, and includes guidance on registration, conducting physical examinations and prescribing.

The NZ Telehealth Forum provides guidance on telehealth regulations, and the Royal Osteoporosis Society offers a toolkit to enhance virtual and telephone consultations.

The NZ Telehealth Forum and Resource Centre has a web page focused on regulations, standards and guidelines on the role of telehealth in New Zealand.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society in the United Kingdom has developed a Virtual and Telephone Consultation Toolkit.
