The award was presented to Paul by IOF President, Professor John Kanis on April 15, 2016 at the IOF’s World Conference on Osteoporosis in Malaga, Spain.

Paul was deeply honoured to receive this award for his work on systematic approaches to fragility fracture care and prevention throughout the world. He said ‘The fantastic progress currently being made in New Zealand is a result of a multisector, multidisciplinary collaboration of government organisations, learned professional societies and the NGO sector. This provides an illustration of what can be achieved when all stakeholders in a country work together in the best interests of people who are living with osteoporosis.’
